The Baqueira ski resort in the Pyrenees is one of the largest and most popular winter sports resorts in Spain. It spans the municipalities of Baqueira, Beret, and Bonaigua over an area of 152 km with 5 km of ski and snowboard slopes. Visitors have access to 28 modern ski lifts to take them to the slopes of Baqueira Beret. The ski area ranges from 1,471 m to 2,510 m. From Barcelona or Zaragoza, it takes less than four hours by rental car to reach the resort. The snow conditions in the area, along with the many surrounding villages adorned with stone and wooden houses and Romanesque churches, are particularly attractive to skiers.
Masella, Catalonia
Masella is a very popular resort located in La Cerdanya in Girona in the Pyrenees. Masella overlooks the Cerdanya Valley and is part of the Alp 2500 area. The resort is only 90 minutes from Barcelona, a one and a half hour drive on modern roads! The journey takes you through the Serra del Cadí mountain range via the Cadí Tunnel. The ski area offers many options for skiing with 65 slopes over 75 km. It is the ideal resort for beginner or novice skiers. There are also many off-piste areas for experienced skiers.
Alto Campoo, Cantabria
The Alto Campoo ski resort is unique in the Cantabrian mountains in northern Spain. The family-friendly and warm resort is nestled on peaks over 2,000 meters above sea level. The resort is located on the third highest peak in Spain and on the northern slopes of the Veleta. The slopes are situated at an altitude of 2,100 meters while the cable cars rise up to 3,282 meters. The ski season in the Sierra Nevada can last from late November to early May. It offers more than 100 km of alpine skiing and allows access to the Mediterranean coast after a short drive by rental car.
