Blogger for 3 years, I track, analyze, and delight in Strasbourg and its riches. I share my findings on social media and on my blog: BLOGKAPOUE.COM. Thanks to this platform, I also launch various video projects, notably HappyStrasbourg and BikingStrasbourg.

Here are my top 5 reasons to visit Strasbourg!

Christmas… but not only!

Indeed, the Christmas market is UNMISSABLE, as it is very beautiful, well-stocked, and festive: a true way of life for the people of Strasbourg from late November to late December… But there is also in February STRASBOURG MON AMOUR, which celebrates love, romance, and couples in the Alsatian capital, with plenty of festivities. You might also consider visiting the European institutions in the north of the city, which are very interesting culturally and architecturally.

Alsatian gastronomy!

Discover tarte flambée, Alsatian beer, or the famous sauerkraut with meat or fish as served, for example, at the Maison Kammerzell at the foot of the Cathedral. You can also lose yourself in a “winstub” (typical Alsatian restaurant), often dark but so good, like the renowned “tire bouchon”.

Shopping!

Like all major cities in France, Strasbourg has a city center well-stocked with shops of all kinds. However, I recommend spending time at the Place des Halles and Rivétoile, the two major shopping centers in the city. Additionally, to complete your shopping spree, linger from rue des hallebardes to rue des juifs, not forgetting Grand’rue and rue des Grandes arcades, where you will find a multitude of quality shops that will suit you.

Tourist and historical visits!

What better way to start your day, after a brunch, at the museum of Modern Art in Strasbourg, then stroll along the quays, catch a barge, tour the city, and stop at the foot of the great lady celebrating the 1000th anniversary of its foundations this year: the famous Cathedral Notre Dame of Strasbourg! Discover its interior, its astronomical clock, its stained glass windows, and its view… Descend, visit the Rohan museum, and end your day with an ice cream in hand in the gardens of the Orangerie…

Fun!

Strasbourg is a student and cosmopolitan city, full of bars and fun things to do… I suggest a friendly drink at the Phonographe, then a charcuterie board at Jeannette et les Cycleux, then head to Germany by bike, passing through the garden of the two shores and its magnificent view of the bridge connecting the two countries… For relaxation enthusiasts, take the car and head to Baden Baden for a moment of relaxation at the Caracalla baths!
