Rent a car in Naas with Europcar
The county town of Naas is home to another of Ireland’s Europcar branches and is an excellent choice to rent from for easy access to the central and south-east regions of the country while it’s also still close to Dublin. Our Europcar Co. Kildare location is situated in Jigginstown Business Park in Naas. Hiring a car from this location gives you the freedom to experience the beautiful countryside of Co. Kildare and its surrounding regions, as well as being less than an hour from Dublin city centre.
The town of Naas has a history as long and rich as the surrounding Co. Kildare. Its name derives from the Gaelic for ‘the meeting place of kings’, as it would often be chosen as the location for the ancient heads of the surrounding peoples and tribes to get together. Visitors appreciate the warm welcome of the townspeople, the quaint canals, and places of interest like Coolcarrigan Gardens, Saint David’s Church, plus Naas and Punchestown Racecourses.
Naas is less than 45 minutes’ drive from central Dublin and, on the way, is Castletown House, a magnificent 1722 stately home, and the Viking established Leixlip Castle. County Kildare itself is known as a county of rich farming and grazing land, with stud farms that breed champion racehorses, dotted all over the countryside.
Over in Kildare town, which is based around the impressive Saint Brigid’s Cathedral, built in the 13th century to honour Ireland’s second saint, is the Irish National Stud. This working stud farm sits on 958 acres of land and opens part of that to visitors, welcoming them with the Irish Horse Museum and their exquisite Japanese Gardens.
By Newbridge, you can also find the Curragh which is the very centre of Ireland’s horse industry. It’s one huge piece of land whose name literally means ‘place of the running horses’. The nearby village of Straffan offers its Butterfly Farm and Steam Museum, while Maynooth is home to Saint Patrick’s College, the second oldest college in Ireland, and a 13th century Castle.
