15 minutes from Cascais, Guincho Beach is a beautiful cove located below the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Once the site of the World Surfing Championships, it is truly a great place for this sport. However, due to its strong waves, only intermediate or advanced surfers should venture to face them. Kitesurf, surf, and bodyboard boards can be rented on the beach. With relatively few tourists, you will certainly find plenty of space to quietly enjoy the warmth of the sun on this 800-meter-long beach. If Guincho Beach sounds familiar, it's simply because the 1969 James Bond film, , was filmed there.
Admire the undeniable beauty of Pena Palace
Pena Palace, certainly one of the places you must visit, is located at the eastern end of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Aesthetically meticulous, like a colorful chocolate box with touches of yellow, pink, and orange, the palace reigns amidst the dense landscape of the surrounding forest, with simply magnificent views from the top of its terraces. Built by Ferdinand III, this building showcases exemplary styles of Manueline and Moorish architecture. You will have activities and visits to occupy your entire day at Pena Park and the Chalet of the Countess of Edla. Pena Palace is only 18 kilometers from Cascais by car.
