Generally speaking, driving in Alicante is not usually complicated, but there are a few things you should know. Driving under the influence is considered a very serious offense, and EU-imposed limits are enforced. As for speed limits, within town, it is 50 km/h, while on conventional roads, the limit is 90 km/h, and on highways, it is 120 km/h. Most residential areas have a speed limit of 20 km/h.
Many hotels in Alicante charge for the use of their monitored parking lots, with prices starting at 7 € per day. You can park on some streets; paid zones are marked with blue lines, and parking is prohibited on yellow curbs.
