Driving in Rovaniemi
When driving on the roads of Rovaniemi, vehicles drive on the right and overtake on the left. Speeds are limited to 50 km/h in the city, 100-120 km/h on expressways, and between 80 and 100 km/h on other roads. Speed limits are indicated on round, red-bordered signs.
Parking on downtown streets is generally paid – pay for your parking at an automatic machine that will issue you a ticket, which must be placed behind the windshield inside your car. The rate is 1.40 euros/hour. You can park in another parking lot using the same ticket if there is time left on it. You can also find parking at a different rate at the train station and the airport. Most gas stations accept credit card payments.

The auroras are visible everywhere in the surroundings, but for an unforgettable experience, you need a place as free from light pollution as possible. Three hours' drive north of Rovaniemi, the village of Saariselka is one of the best observation points.
